Patagonia´s history of the past 1
oo years or so has been largely dominated by farming...particularly sheep farming...much like inner parts of Australia, the farms are very big and largely isolated...and these significant landowners have, for the most part, made a lot of money from the industry...
I took a tour of one of these ´
estancias´ called
Nibepo Aike...I was a little disappointed as this was not a true farm anymore...it had been taken over by the national parks authority...and
isnt the true working farm that you would expect to see despite having significant numbers of cattle and enough sheep to shear to entertain the tourists...and a number of cats...

The attraction for me was the wonderful views from the farm...

This is a lamb and became some of the most delicious lamb I have ever tasted...

For the tourists, the old-style shearing of a sheep...you only get to see 1 sheep...they have enough sheep scattered around the farm to shear one per day...

I was told that they have several thousand head of cattle too, but these were the only ones in sight...
These are birds...not sheep or cattle...
